The areas were designed better allowing for more fluid options and approaches to encounters. The addition of prone really went far for the stealth mechanics and dodging added more depth to the melee system. Like I mentioned just above, the gameplay mechanics were much better. Last of Us part 2 improved in every single aspect. The story and character depth was just a bit too shallow. Despite hearing that this game was a perfect masterpiece I walked away feeling the game was a solid 7.5/10. There are some great interactions between the two and watching their relationship blossom is the core of this game. A girl who equally needs him as much as he needs her. Not that anything is wrong with that but there's only so much you can do when simply making the gruff asshole turn over a new leaf for a young girl who is filling in the role of his dead daughter. Joel and Ellie's relationship is 100% what this game is. The game shines with its attention to detail, character development/writing and dialogue. The story also leaves a lot to be desired, it's rather straightforward and simple. The gameplay mechanics are good for what they are but are drastically improved upon in the sequel. The gameplay and story picks up from there but both are still lacking. I played through the first game and it was a slog up until about Tess dies. It’s almost like magic! Except not, because it takes a ton of work.Haven't owned a Playstation since PS2, got a PS4 given to me by my cousin with the stipulation that I had to play this series. What’s more, this “translation” between the old and new controllers happens entirely in the DualSense firmware - PS4 game code doesn’t change at all when it’s running on a PS5. “So the controller firmware in the DualSense has to receive the ‘old’ signals that are meant to spin up a motor (which has much higher latency), and emulate the resulting FEELING in the controller using a completely different mechanical method,” he said on Twitter. The DualSense features two weights that move forward and back, and can “express frequency and amplitude at extremely high fidelity and low latency (almost like a speaker),” Margenau explained. The DualShock 4 controller delivers vibration through two different-sized weights that rotate inside. Polygon staffers noticed the mismatch in haptics at the PS5’s launch last November, saying that “some PS4 games’ vibration schemes clearly feel designed with the DualShock 4 in mind - because they were.” We noted that the feeling of force feedback was not a “one-to-one transition from DualShock 4 to DualSense.”įixing the disparity was complicated, according to Margenau, due to mechanical differences between the controllers. Margenau said that he had the chance to give feedback to Sony’s DualSense team “a few months ago,” to “help improve certain timing, intensity, and ‘texture’ of haptics” when people use the controller with PS4 games.Ī few months ago, I got to give feedback to the Sony DualSense team to help improve certain timing, intensity, and “texture” of haptics when in backwards compatibility (BC) mode to closer achieve the feeling we authored for the original DualShock 4 for our games.- Kurt Margenau May 21, 2021 PS4 games played on PS5 with a DualSense should now feel closer to their original experience with a PS4 and its DualShock 4 gamepad. Hot on the heels of this week’s PS5 performance update for the 2020 game - which doubled the frame rate to 60 frames per second - Margenau noted on Friday that players returning to the game “may notice the haptics feel better.” The reason, Margenau explained in a Twitter thread, is that the DualSense firmware update tweaked haptic feedback when the controller is used to play PS4 titles. At the time, Sony gave no information on what the update did, but we finally have some details now, thanks to The Last of Us Part 2 co-game director Kurt Margenau. If you own a PS5, you may recall that after the patch, the console asked you to plug in the controller to update its firmware. Sony issued a major system software update for the PS5 in mid-April. If you’ve noticed that your PlayStation 5 DualSense controller’s vibration feels a little better with PlayStation 4 games these days, no, it’s not just you.

They set a limit of 512 participants in both the Xbox and PlayStation tournaments and filled those easily. The Blues created three divisions: two open divisions for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and one for high school-aged players. “We were able to expedite our plans there and get that launched to make sure we were getting our fans something at a time when they probably had a little more time on their hands than they normally would.” “We already had that in the works, and it allowed us to act very quickly to get some content out there to our fans,” Gardner said. Registration was scheduled to take place in late March, but when the league paused earlier that month because of the pandemic, the Blues bumped up their timetable. ![]() Through a cooperation with Maryville University and the Rawlings Sports Business Management program, an esports association was created and the idea to host an NHL 20 tournament in the spring of 2020 was hatched. “But we decided to take a step back and spend a little bit more time going over what we figured was going to be the direction for us … to best activate through our local market,” Gardner said. There were already a few NHL teams who had jumped into esports, and in communication with those clubs, the Blues believed it was a viable platform. The Blues actually began brainstorming how they could incorporate esports in their content two years ago. ![]() To be able to launch this esports tournament was a great thing, so people could take in a little Blues hockey when they were missing it and not able to go to games.” The second was to entertain our fans at a time when they probably needed that more than anything - take their mind off all the craziness that was going on in the world. The competition was well-timed, and while not all fans are gamers, seeing the players’ names and incredibly detailed graphics of the game did give some their fix until the league resumes. The Blues’ first foray into the esports world was successful, with more than 1,000 participants taking part in the event and winners crowned over the weekend. “It was a great opportunity to connect with fans and give a little hockey feel to everyone. “Yeah, didn’t have much else going on at all,” he said. After thrashing the Highlanders in Dunedin in round one with their traditional counter-attacking, ruck and run style, they had a serious malfunction against the Brumbies in Melbourne at the weekend and another defeat could paint a team that began the season as one of the competition favourites as a little mentally and physically fragile. ![]() Activity Feed: Records of recent transactions in your shared library.Refer to the section on EndNote Online for more information. Miyagi is constantly urging Daniel-san to breathe. ![]() Miyagi Lesson #3: Don’t Forget to Breathe This allows me to be present with the family for (most of) the rest of the day, while at the same time not dreading coming back to a mountain of work. On vacation, I do a little work before the kids wake up every morning. Vacations with my family are one of my top priorities, and I’ve learned to successfully integrate them into my demanding work schedule. I skip out on sightseeing or take a red-eye so I don’t miss important events in my children’s lives. I travel a ton, but I’ve learned how to minimize the impacts on the rest of my life. I carved out regular, work-free time on my calendar that has paid huge dividends for me professionally and personally: I don’t work on Sundays, I have dinner almost every night with my family and I have a date with my wife every Friday night. Early on, I decided not to let my passion to be a successful CEO override my principle of family first. Part of successfully integrating work and life depends on your ability to create healthy boundaries. And one of the most common reasons: they would just end up working on vacation anyway. Or they felt their boss would view them as not being all in by going on vacation. The top reasons why? The employee didn’t want to dig out after being gone. Last year, more than 705 million vacation days went unused. ranks 30th out of 38 countries when it comes to finding balance at work and home. Right now, we are facing a huge imbalance in America. In other words, it may seem like we’re winning, but if left unchecked, we might actually be losing. If we’re not careful, work can infiltrate every aspect of our lives, oftentimes, without us even knowing it. Smartphones make us reachable at any place and time. Since then, technology has essentially removed any traditional boundaries that existed prior to the 1990s. Miyagi taught Daniel-san about passion and principle. Miyagi Lesson #2: Never Put Passion Before Principle. I came away with a bit of an “I’ll show you” attitude, along with a desire to prove that you can indeed achieve whole life balance. You have to choose because you won’t be both.”Įven if his firm was the only possible investment option we had (it wasn’t), he would not have been the right fit philosophically, we didn’t believe in the same guiding values. “I don’t think you can be a successful father and a successful CEO. During a conversation we had at lunch, the VC made a comment to me that changed everything. The head of the group visited our office in Utah, which was a pretty good sign a deal was on the horizon. While I wanted my business to succeed, I was also determined to make sure my family didn’t take a backseat. When Lendio was just getting started in 2011, I was married with two young children. Instead, focus on successfully integrating work and life. The key to increasing performance and happiness in all areas is to stop trying to draw definitive lines. This couldn’t be further from the truth-we are multi-faceted beings. The term work-life balance implies that work is something to be kept separate from the rest of our lives, not part of who we are or how we measure our happiness. The details of Miyagi's life between World War II and 1984 are sparse but he became a handyman at the South Seas apartment building in Reseda, California while maintaining a home with an elaborate Japanese garden.I’ve never been a fan of the notion that work and life are separate things. With a great blend of performance, handling and value, the Nikon Z6 was one of our favorite full-frame mirrorless cameras. There’s no question that the EOS R6 represents a massive upgrade from the EOS 6D Mark II – or even the EOS R and EOS RP – though its performance doesn’t come cheap. The EOS R6's sensor resolution won’t grab headlines and JPEG dynamic range can be a little disappointing, with a lack of detail in highlights and shadows, but overall image quality is still darn good. And it’s an excellent one: 12fps mechanical burst speeds jump to 20fps when you switch to the electronic shutter, while the addition of Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus to the 20.1MP sensor results in a significant improvement to autofocus and tracking performance. In any case, Canon has made clear the EOS R6 is a stills camera first and foremost. Its video specs can’t rival the R5’s 8K skills, but shooting 4K/60p across the full width of the sensor is hardly shabby. An ergonomic design means the R6 is comfortable for all-day use and, paired with Canon’s outstanding first effort at in-body image stabilization, proves an absolute pleasure to shoot with. One of the only downsides is that its touchscreen only tilts, but that’s unlikely to be a major dealbreaker for most.Ī more affordable version of the powerhouse EOS R5, Canon’s EOS R6 might well become Canon’s most popular camera – and for good reason. If you’re a Nikon fan, the Nikon Z6 II is a great choice, offering decent video and stills specs. If you’re keen to save some money, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives to think about. Those looking for an all-rounder that can deliver in several areas would do well to look at both. The EOS R6 might not offer as much resolution, but it edges it in terms of burst shooting and moving subjects. The Sony is a fantastic ‘hybrid’ camera for both video and photo, with a high-resolution 33MP sensor. We think the Sony A7 IV and the Canon EOS R6 are the best available right now.
